SMU Meadows School of the Arts - The Owens Art Center
Endocrinologist Dr. Heidi Shea, along with Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) will lead group sessions to discuss the medical considerations of transferring from a pediatric endocrinologist to one specializing in adult care, at the same time as leaving home. Guests will also hear from a panel of current students with diabetes and their parents sharing what they have learned during this transition. Students and parents will then be separated into breakout sessions to discuss topics such as talking to RA’s and roommates about diabetes studying abroad, and handling alcohol and parties.
