We\u2019re also thrilled to welcome special guest speaker Brec Basinger<\/strong>. Brec was diagnosed with T1D<\/a> when she was eight years old and is best known for her starring role on the DC Universe and The CW series, \u201cStargirl.\u201d Born and raised in Saginaw, TX, she eventually ventured to Hollywood, where she landed a recurring role in \u201cThe Haunted Hathaways.\u201d Other credits include Nickelodeon\u2019s \u201cBella and the Bulldogs,\u201d and \u201cLiar, Liar, Vampire,\u201d as well as \u201c47 Meters Down,\u201d “Final Destination: Bloodlines” and recurring roles in \u201cSchool of Rock\u201d and \u201cThe Goldbergs.”<\/p>\n

On Saturday, April 25th, the Breakthrough T1D San Diego community came together for an unforgettable evening at the stunning oceanfront setting of the Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas for our Don\u2019t Stop Believing Gala.<\/p>\n

The night was a powerful celebration of progress, purpose, and the unwavering commitment to creating a world without type 1 diabetes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Guests were welcomed with a lively cocktail hour overlooking the Pacific, followed by an inspiring program that highlighted the impact of Breakthrough T1D\u2019s research and the strength of our local community. Our Youth Ambassadors shared their personal stories, reminding us all why this work matters so deeply.<\/p>\n

A true highlight of the night was our Fund A Cure moment, where guests came together in a powerful show of support – raising critical funds that go directly toward life-changing research. This collective generosity is what fuels breakthroughs and brings us closer to cures.<\/p>\n

We are deeply grateful to our Gala Co-Chairs, Leslie Bercovitz and Tally Bercovitz,<\/strong> whose leadership and vision made this evening possible, as well as to our sponsors, donors, and dedicated volunteers who brought every detail to life. The celebration continued late into the evening with high-energy entertainment by BETAMAXX, keeping the dance floor packed and the spirit alive.<\/p>\n
