Breakthrough T1D and ConnecT1D Launch Cell Phone Collection Initiative

Supporting Families Newly Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes

We’re thrilled to announce a new collaboration between Breakthrough T1D and the ConnecT1D team at Cincinnati Children’s Diabetes Center to support families managing Type 1 Diabetes. This initiative will collect cell phones to provide families who lack access to compatible technology for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems and automated insulin delivery (AID) systems.

Why Donate a Smartphone?

CGM systems offer real-time glucose monitoring, making it easier for families to manage diabetes effectively. However, not all families have access to compatible devices. By donating an extra smartphone, you’re helping equip families with the tools they need for life-saving, real-time glucose management.

How to Donate

  1. Check Compatibility – If you have a smartphone compatible with CGM technology, please consider donating. For a list of compatible devices, visit our compatibility page HERE.
  2. Prepare the Device – Please factory reset your smartphone to ensure the device is ready for a new user.
  3. Drop-off Location – Donations can be dropped off at the Southern and Central Ohio Breakthrough T1D office (8035 Hosbrook Rd Suite 210, Cincinnati, OH 45236) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  4. Distribution – Breakthrough T1D will deliver the phones to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where they’ll be provided to families in need.

Make a Difference Today!

Your contribution can directly impact the lives of families managing T1D. If you have an extra compatible smartphone, we would love to receive your donation. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of local families managing Type 1 Diabetes.

Thank you for your support!
