Together, we can raise awareness about type 1 diabetes (T1D), build community, improve lives, increase access and champion research for cures.<\/p>\n<p>The Breakthrough T1D NorCal Chapter urges everyone to get involved and help drive us toward a brighter, healthier future for everyone facing T1D. Join us this November as we move #ForwardAs1 to support the T1D community and work to make this condition a thing of the past. Discover how you can get involved:<br \/>\n<b><a title=\"breakthrought1d.org\/advocacy\/yaac\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/diabetes-awareness-month\/\" data-linkto=\"https:\/\/\">BreakthroughT1D.org\/diabetesawarenessmonth<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>The 2024 Nobel Prizes have a direct connection to Breakthrough T1D!<\/h3>\n<p>The Nobel Prizes go to people with the brightest ideas and greatest achievements in their field. This year, the prizes recognize work that is, in several ways, connected to Breakthrough T1D and the work we are doing to cure T1D and improve the lives of those living with it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The award in Chemistry went to David Baker, who received Breakthrough T1D funding from 2016-2021 to work on glucose-responsive insulin.<\/li>\n<li>The award in Physiology or Medicine went to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.
