To all of our friends and family,

It’s that time of year when we ask for your support for Breakthrough T1D, the organization leading the fight against Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).  As many of you know, our son Jack was diagnosed with T1D in December 2015, a moment that changed our family forever.  Since then, we’ve committed ourselves to supporting the work that brings hope, progress, and better lives to people like Jack.

Breakthrough T1D—formerly JDRF—is the world’s leading nonprofit focused entirely on Type 1 Diabetes research, advocacy, and improving everyday life for those facing the disease.  They are helping accelerate breakthroughs in treatments, technologies, and potential cures.  We’ve personally seen the difference this organization has made: from advanced insulin pumps to continuous glucose monitors, Jack’s ability to manage his diabetes has improved every year thanks to the progress Breakthrough T1D helps drive.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that can affect anyone at any age. It’s not caused by diet or lifestyle, and there’s currently no way to prevent it.  But thanks to rapid advancements in research—including progress in cell therapy, screening, and prevention—there is more hope today than ever before.

As Jack has moved to North Carolina, it’s become harder for us to join some of the traditional Breakthrough T1D events as a family.  So this year, Paula and I are hosting our own campaign and working directly with Breakthrough T1D to raise support.  We would be grateful for any level of contribution.  Every dollar helps push research forward, improves daily life for people with T1D, and moves us closer to a cure.

Over the last eight years, thanks to your generosity and our family match, we’ve raised almost $1.5 million.  We are humbled by your support, and we hope you’ll join us again this year as we work toward an even bigger impact.
