Join us for a journey through the latest advancements in type 1 diabetes research with Breakthrough T1D, with a focus on prevention and cell therapies. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of Breakthrough T1D’s efforts to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to delay and prevent T1D, updates on first in human cell therapies, and advancements in treating type 1 diabetes and its complications.

In the evolving landscape of diabetes care there are now many new available therapies. However, the management of type 1 diabetes is still limited to insulin therapy. This talk will explore the role of adjunctive therapies in the management of type 1 diabetes, highlighting how these treatments could complement insulin therapy. Attendees will learn about research on potential adjunctive therapies that Breakthrough T1D is funding, including SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and their potential benefits and risks.

Learn from a panel of experts on how to live well with type 1 diabetes. The discussion will include T1D and school, nutrition, exercise and mental health. This session will all be in Spanish.

Building a healthy relationship with food is an important part of managing type 1 diabetes. Binge eating disorder, diabulimia, anorexia and bulimia can have a devastating effect on the health of people with diabetes. Eating disorders are common in people with diabetes, and many people go undiagnosed for years. Learn to recognize the signs, and how to get treatment that balances with T1D.

Many people living with type one diabetes only focus on their physical health, but T1D can greatly impact mental health. Diabetes increases the risk of depression, anxiety, eating disorders and burnout. Learn to recognize the symptoms of a mental health issue and find the proper treatment. Dr. Braun will also discuss caregiver burnout and anxiety. T1D can impact learning, careers, school, family, and relationships.

Diabetes must be managed 24/7, and for children with diabetes, that includes time spent at school or school-sponsored activities like field trips and extracurricular activities, in child care programs, and at summer camp or recreational programs. Learn important information about the ADA’s Safe at School campaign and how it works to make sure the diabetes management needs of children are met so they are healthy and safe and able to enjoy the same opportunities as their peers.
