At Community Bank, we believe in strengthening the communities we serve—and that includes supporting the health and well-being of our neighbors. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Breakthrough T1D, an organization on the front lines of fighting type 1 diabetes (T1D) through research, advocacy, and support.

T1D is a chronic autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone essential for converting food into energy. It’s not caused by diet or lifestyle, and it can strike anyone, at any age. People with T1D must rely on insulin every single day—through injections or an insulin pump—to survive. And even with constant management, serious complications can arise. There is no cure yet, but Breakthrough T1D is working to change that.

Breakthrough T1D has played a pivotal role in nearly every major advance in T1D care over the past 40 years—from establishing the importance of HbA1c as a measure of blood sugar control to driving the development of artificial pancreas systems. While they pursue cures, they are also focused on improving daily life for those already living with this disease, including right here in our backyard.
