In July 2023, our daughter Charlotte was diagnosed with type one diabetes (T1D), and her life was forever changed in more ways than we could have imagined. As parents of a toddler with T1D, and without any family history of T1D to turn to for explanation or reference, Bryan and I had to quickly learn a lot about this lifelong autoimmune disease, mostly on our own. Breakthrough T1D has been a critical resource for us and we are honored to sit on the Gala Committee for the first time this year. Through our participation in Breakthrough T1D, we are able to raise vital funds and awareness that support research, treatment, and ultimately, the search for a cure.

Our partnership with and work through Breakthrough T1D has shown us just how powerful we can be together. Each gala, each dollar raised, each generous gesture of support, brings us one step closer to a world where type one diabetes no longer dictates the lives of those we love. Every day, I’m motivated by Charlotte’s resilience and the hope that we can one day live in a world without type one diabetes.
