It is a time for all Breakthrough T1D staff to celebrate our dedicated volunteer partners.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Community Volunteer Award<\/strong> recognizes chapter volunteers whose contributions of time and talent have significantly impacted their local T1D community and advanced Breakthrough T1D&#8217;s mission.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Mountain West team is honored to present this award to <strong>Sandi Monsen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/utah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2023\/04\/SM1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7233\" src=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/utah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2023\/04\/SM1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/utah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2023\/04\/SM1.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/utah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2023\/04\/SM1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Sandi&#8217;s daughter Reese was diagnosed with T1D six years ago, they quickly found community in Breakthrough T1D. Their One Walk team, Team Reese, has been a top team every year, and Sandi and Reese regularly support 3rd-party fundraisers that bring in tens of thousands of dollars. Most recently, Sandi served as Utah Gala Chair and helped put together the 2023 Passport to a Cure Gala in just a few short weeks, where Reese also took on a leadership role as a Mountain West Youth Ambassador.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7234\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/utah\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2023\/04\/JLP00069-scaled-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7234\" class=\"wp-image-7234 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/mountainwest\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/84\/2023\/04\/JLP00069-800x1200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7234\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo credit: Jules Louise Photography<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When asked why she volunteers for Breakthrough T1D, Sandi shared that the reason she chooses to be involved is &#8220;because I want my daughter to meet other kids her age that have the same struggles as her.&#8221; Sandi also believes that in &#8220;doing my part, we will be able to find a cure for my daughter and the millions of those living with T1D around the world!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Breakthrough T1D recognizes Sandi&#8217;s generosity, compassion and tenacity to stop at nothing until there is a cure for T1D.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interested in volunteering for Breakthrough T1D?
