About the ELC:

The Emerging Leaders Committee (ELC) is a group of young professionals dedicated to Breakthrough T1D and its mission: accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

The committee hosts a wide range of opportunities for members to get involved and make a difference, including volunteering, fundraising, networking, and social events. Members of the ELC range between the ages of 21 and 40, with and without type 1 diabetes. The group works in partnership with the Western and Central Pennsylvania Chapter and its Board of Directors and is given the opportunity to take part in the inception, planning, and ultimate success of events throughout the year aimed towards raising both funds and awareness for Breakthrough T1D and T1D.

Breakthrough T1D is the leading global organization focused on T1D research, and approximately 80 cents of every dollar given to Breakthrough T1D is allocated to diabetes research and education. By being a part of the ELC of Western and Central Pennsylvania, you will have a direct impact on finding a cure for T1D. We are committed to keeping the momentum high until a cure is found.
