The Buffalo community came together for an evening program with an exquisite live &amp; silent auction, plated dinner, and a beautiful Fund a Cure fundraising moment driven by The Smith Family (<span class=\"OYPEnA text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Buz, Cale, Jaxson, and Michele Smith) an incredible local family impacted generationally by T1D.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6276\" style=\"width: 778px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/westerncentralny\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/159\/2024\/03\/Image-7-scaled-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6276\" class=\"size-large wp-image-6276\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jdrf.org\/upstateny\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2024\/03\/Image-7-2400x3200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6276\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pictured: Cale Smith &amp; his son Jaxson, both living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), gave our Fund a Cure speech at the Breakthrough T1D Buffalo Soiree.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The silent &amp; live auction at the Buffalo Soiree included exciting items such as as a personal &#8220;Wing Night&#8221; with Buffalo Bills player Reid Ferguson at Bar-Bill, the opportunity to create your own beer at Resurgence Brewing Co., and tickets to a Buffalo Bills game in the Mader Construction Co. Dugout Suite. Her life was cut tragically short when her type 1 diabetes went undiagnosed. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees and Partners, we raised nearly $100,000 for Breakthrough T1D and type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The night&#8217;s wonderful program, emceed by WROC News 8&#8217;s Adam Chodak, included a live auction that included exciting items such as a sign Taylor Swift guitar that sold for\u00a0 $2,700!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6275\" style=\"width: 778px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthrought1d.org\/westerncentralny\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/159\/2024\/03\/IMG_5049-scaled-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6275\" class=\"size-large wp-image-6275\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jdrf.org\/upstateny\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2024\/03\/IMG_5049-2400x3200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6275\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Signed Taylor Swift guitar in our live auction at the Breakthrough T1D Rochester Soiree.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our Fund A Cure portion was motivated by Desmond Goergen, who lives with T1D.
