Objective
The aim of this project is to expand the existing relationship between Jaeb Center for Health Research and JDRF in automated insulin delivery research to collaborate on other aspects of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research with the goal of improving lives of individuals with T1D.
Background Rationale
The Jaeb Center for Health Research (JCHR) is a nonprofit, independent coordinating center for clinical trials and epidemiologic research in Tampa, Florida. For the last 10 years, JDRF has funded an artificial pancreas coordinating center at JCHR. Staff of the Coordinating Center have been scientifically engaged with JDRF and its funded researchers in the development, coordination, and oversight of JDRF-funded artificial pancreas (automated insulin delivery) studies. This project involves serving as a coordinating center for JDRF funded studies in all aspects of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
Description of Project
This project involves the Jaeb Center for Health Research serving as a coordinating center for JDRF-funded studies in all aspects of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The project entails general coordination and research support services, including clinical trial design support, regulatory guidance, and statistical support, for researchers developing and conducting automated insulin delivery (artificial pancreas) studies as well as for researchers with a focus in other areas of T1D including therapies targeted for prevention, new-onset, and established disease. Another component is to coordinate the development, conduct, and analysis of multicenter clinical trials supported by JDRF.
Anticipated Outcome
The role of JCHR summarized in three broad categories includes an advisory role, data management and analysis role or full study coordination including monitoring of study performance. The potential role of JCHR will depend on the needs of each individual study and can be summarized in three broad categories: 1) advisory role, 2) data management and analysis, and 3) study coordination. We anticipate the results of these studies will benefit the lives of individuals with T1D.
Relevance to T1D
This project involves JCHR serving as a coordinating center for JDRF funded type one diabetes (T1D) studies across a wide array of research areas including prevention, newly diagnosed and established T1D.
