Hi, I'm Sadie.

On Thanksgiving Day 2022, at age 12, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Overnight, I had to learn how to give myself insulin, check my blood sugar, and count carbs for everything I eat.

Type 1 diabetes doesn’t take breaks. There are constant alarms, pokes, and unpredictable highs and lows. But from the very beginning, I chose to stay positive.

Soon after my diagnosis, I connected with other kids living with T1D and became a Youth Ambassador with Breakthrough T1D. I’ve shared my story at events and even traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate for continued research funding.

I truly believe a cure will happen in my lifetime.

I’m raising money through Fund A Cure to directly support research advancing better treatments — and ultimately cures — for type 1 diabetes through Breakthrough T1D.
