When our son Luke was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at just six years old, our family’s world changed overnight.

Today, managing T1D means around-the-clock blood sugar monitoring, insulin, medical devices, and sleepless nights filled with alarms. While incredible advances have made living with T1D safer, there is still no cure.

That’s why we’re honored to serve as the 2026 Fund A Cure Family for Breakthrough T1D’s Party With 1 Purpose. By sharing Luke’s story, we hope to inspire others to invest in the research that will one day make type 1 diabetes a thing of the past.

Meet Luke

Luke is an energetic 9-year-old who loves soccer, snowmobiling, dirt biking, and making people smile. T1D doesn’t define him—but it impacts every single day of his life.

Our dream is simple: A future where Luke can just be a kid.
