Andy Gruber Fund A Cure Tribute Campaign

Join us in remembering a very special friend of Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) at this year’s Hope Gala with a special tribute to help Fund A Cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Andy Gruber, known by his friends as Grubie, moved to Las Vegas in 1979. It was then that he met his soon to be best friend Jim Mason. The Mason family were founders of the Southern Nevada Chapter of what was then called JDF and by extension, Andy committed himself to helping fund breakthrough research so that one day no one will know the burden of this difficult disease.

Over the years Andy raised money through the One Walk, served on the Breakthrough T1D Southern Nevada Board of Directors, and attended countless Hope Galas. Between the money he and his wife Julie donated to help Fund A Cure and the friends and business associates who donated to his walk team, Andy brought in more than $288,000. He did it because he believed in a world without type 1 diabetes and had trust in the research that will one day lead to a cure.

Andy was only a stranger once and treated everyone he met like family. Join his Breakthrough T1D family in remembering him by making a donation to help Fund A Cure. The donations to this campaign will be presented the night of the Hope Gala on Friday, May 9 at Mandalay Bay in his memory as a celebration of the incredible impact he made to the Southern Nevada T1D community.
