Join us for the Georgia Breakthrough T1D My Ride!

The Breakthrough T1D Georgia and South Carolina Ride Committee is hosting a Breakthrough T1D My Ride to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, October 11th. The ride will be held on the Silver Comet Trail in Cobb County. Ride distances from 1 mile to 100 miles will be supported by your Breakthrough T1D Ride coaches.

This year we are introducing the pre-ride Inspiration Dinner the night before, on Friday, October 10^th at 6:30 PM at Morty’s Meat & Supply in Dunwoody Village. Anyone – family, friends, people who just want to know more about the Ride – is welcome to attend the dinner, even if they are not riding.

There are no registration fees and no minimum fundraising requirements to participate, but you are strongly encouraged to set a fundraising goal. Every dollar you raise will bring us closer to a world without T1D. Choose a goal amount that’s meaningful to you, you can change your goal at any time!

What is the Breakthrough T1D My Ride?

The Georgia coaches are hosting a ride on the Silver Comet Trail (SCT) for those who can’t attend a Breakthrough T1D destination ride this year. This provides you an opportunity to meet and ride with like-minded individuals that want to find a cure for T1D.

How old do you have to be to participate?

For insurance reasons, participants must be at least 13 years old to participate.

If I am already signed up for a Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes destination ride, can I still participate?

Yes, you can come out to ride and celebrate with all the participants. If you are yet to attend your destination ride you can use this as an additional training opportunity as you prepare for your destination ride.

Can my family and friends participate in the ride?

Yes, they can so long as they are 13 years or older. Just have them sign up through the Breakthrough T1D My Ride link.

Where will we ride?

The ride will start at the Florence Road Trailhead in Cobb County. We will travel west towards Rockmart, GA (25 miles). We plan to have drinks and snacks in Rockmart and head back to Florence Road. So, 50 miles round trip.

Will a Century option (100 miles) be available?

Yep. You will make the trip to Rockmart and back twice for 100 miles.

Do I have to ride all the way to Rockmart, GA, I’m not sure I can ride that far?

Nope, the route will be on the Silver Comet trail, a paved, multi-use bike and pedestrian trail. The route is out and back so you can turn around at any time to head back to the start point.

Do I have to participate in training rides throughout the year leading up to this My Ride event?

Nope, But we would love to have you join us on the training rides the coaches are hosting this season. By signing up for this My Ride event you will be added to the Breakthrough T1D coaches email list and will receive notifications about coach hosted training rides throughout the year.

What support can I expect on the ride?

There will be coaches on-site who will patrol the course to offer any help needed to the riders. We will also have a SAG vehicle on standby, if there are any issues that make it necessary for a rider to be driven back to the start line. We will have plenty of water and food at the starting line at Florence Road and the turn-around point at Rockmart.
