A message from Kathryn Ary

It is my honor to serve as Chair for Breakthrough T1D Greater Austin’s 2026 The OneParty: Tides of Change, Cures on the Horizon. Breakthrough T1D became a lifeline for our family after our daughter, Hazel, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in January 2021. Since then, we have been deeply grateful for the support and community it has provided!

Our family has been proud to give back as a Youth Ambassador family, One Walk Grand Marshal, and Fund A Cure Family. Through these experiences, we’ve seen the incredible strength of this community. Hazel especially loves meeting other kids living with T1D (known to Hazel as “diabesties”)—reminding her she is never alone. With a heart for serving others, she faces every challenge with determination, knowing diabetes will never hold her back.

For families like ours, the goal is simple: cures! That shared hope drives us to do everything we can to make that dream a reality. Breakthrough T1D is leading the way by funding life-changing, cutting-edge research while providing vital support to families along the journey.

It is a joy to work alongside such a dedicated committee as we plan this year’s OneParty, and I look forward to seeing it all come together April 16-18. Mark your calendar for an unforgettable evening in support of a worthy cause as we raise the tides and move closer to a cure!
