THE BULLOCK FAMILY
For the Bullock family, the fight against type 1 diabetes is deeply personal. Their daughter, Merritt, was diagnosed at just ten years old, and for the past thirteen years, their entire family has faced the relentless, around-the-clock demands of T1D alongside her.
The Bullocks are a united family—always ready to help when Merritt’s blood sugar drops so low that she cannot see clearly, to sit beside her as she gives herself insulin at a restaurant, or to run into a store while traveling to find juice when she needs it urgently. Whether at home, around the dinner table, or miles away on a family trip, they face each challenge together.
Every day, Merritt makes approximately 180 additional decisions simply to stay healthy and safe—decisions about food, insulin, exercise, sleep, travel, and constantly changing blood sugar levels that most of us never have to consider. She has never allowed diabetes to define her, but her family knows that she never gets a day—or even an hour—off from managing it.
The Bullocks are profoundly grateful for the advances in technology and treatment made possible by Breakthrough T1D, but better management is not enough. Together, they are committed to funding research that will lead to cures—and to the day when Merritt and everyone living with this disease can finally be free from type 1 diabetes.
Together we can turn Type One into Type None
