Carolynne Benedetto | Medway, MA

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: my daughter, Rosie, was diagnosed in 2017, when she was 9 years old.
  • What got you into running: I’ve been running since I was a kid but started doing races in my 40s for motivation and exercise.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This will be my 8th time running the Falmouth Road Race.
  • What you are most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: The crowd in Falmouth is the best of any race that I have ever done. I look forward to seeing everyone cheering along the race route, especially my husband and daughter.

Hayley Carron | Hopedale, MA
“You didn’t get this far to only go this far.” —Ben Alldis

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: My partner AJ Brown has been living with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years. When we met I had very little knowledge of T1D. I quickly jumped into researching to educate myself. Through the years we have been together, I have done everything I can to stay up to date on all things T1D so I can support him.
  • What got you into running: I ran cross country in middle school and high school, which was initially what got me into running. I then went on to play five years of NCAA lacrosse in college. Now that I am outside of organized sports, I find running as a hobby very enjoyable.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: I have completed the Falmouth Road Race two times!
  • What you are most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: I am most looking forward to the crowds and supporters on race day. It is such an energetic environment.

Jessica Holmes | Ashland, MA (Hometown: Gorham, ME)
“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: My “baby” brother was diagnosed with T1D in 2019 at the age of 24. As a nurse I’ve seen many patients with diabetes, but when it’s your family member it becomes a whole different ball game. I’ve learned so much by watching him live day to day his life with type 1 diabetes.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This is my first time!
  • What are you most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: Seeing my friends and family along the course!

Arianna McGovern |  Braintree, MA
“Enjoy being while becoming”

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: My dad has type 1 diabetes, so supporting Breakthrough T1D is deeply personal to me.
  • What got you into running: I started running as a way to stay active and challenge myself, and it’s become a meaningful way to support causes I care about. I had the privilege of running my first half marathon with Breakthrough T1D this year.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This will be my first Falmouth Road Race!
What are you most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: I’m excited to experience the energy of the race, support a cause close to my heart, and cross the finish line for the first time.

Kathryn Percy | Marblehead, MA
“Always gonna be an uphill battle / Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose / Ain’t about how fast I get there / Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side / It’s the climb”

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: I have lived with type 1 diabetes for 16 years!
  • What got you into running: Wanting to run Falmouth with Breakthrough T1D
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This is my first time
  • What are you most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: Raising money for a cause close to my heart and experiencing the atmosphere of Falmouth that weekend.
  • Would you like to share a motivational or inspirational message or quote: When I was first diagnosed, Hannah Montana was at its peak. These lyrics got me through tough times back then and still remind me of how strong I am today.

Jody Rabhan | Bethesda, MD
“For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it.” – Amanda Gorman

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: Just before his 17th birthday, our son David was diagnosed with T1D. In that moment, life as we knew it shifted. David’s strength throughout has been nothing short of inspiring. Watching him navigate the challenges of his teenage years and college life and now adulthood as a 23-year-old college graduate—while balancing the demands of diabetes — has been one of the hardest, yet most rewarding experiences as a parent. He lives each day, never letting this disease define him.
  • What got you into running: I’m a fitness enthusiast and have been running my whole life, mostly for exercise. I have run several 5k and turkey trot 10k races, but I only ran my first half marathon last year.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: ZERO. I have watched it every year for the last 20 years and could never see myself running it, nor could I figure out how to get in once I decided I wanted to race it instead of watching it. After successfully completing my half marathon last year, I knew I had to try the Falmouth Road Race.
  • What are you most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: The people, the course, and bringing much-needed awareness and dollars to the most important cause to my family.

Bridget Robinson | Quincy, MA

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: I have type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed at age 27 (they thought I had type 2 but found out later I am type 1.) This will be my third time running the Falmouth Road with Breakthrough T1D. I am so excited to be a part of the team raising money for a cure for all T1Ds! I am looking forward to another awesome race day in Falmouth!
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This will be year three!

Dawn Salan | Orleans, MA
The only one who can tell you “you can’t” is you.

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: I don’t have a personal connection, but I have been very involved with supporting T1D through my employer, Cigna, who is a sponsor of the annual Breakthrough T1D Promise Ball in Connecticut.
  • What got you into running: General effort to try to keep in shape
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: Seven
  • What are you most looking forward to at the Falmouth Road Race: The crowds and the views; trying to make the last hill!

Christina Wiseman and Jim Donnelly

Sophie (Jim’s granddaughter, Christina’s niece) was diagnosed with T1D on December 9, 2023. Despite the many challenges this type of diagnosis poses, she has let NOTHING stand in her way. She is eight years old and is thriving. She was the only girl on her flag football team. She played winter and spring hockey, and is currently playing baseball. She is strong, brave, and reminds us all not to let anything stand in our way. We’re running in Sophie’s honor because she inspires us every day.

Megan White | Foxborough, MA
When Elizabeth was in the hospital at diagnosis, she came up with the following quote that we live by. “I am strong. I am brave. I can do this.” -Elizabeth White

  • What is your connection to Breakthrough T1D and T1D: My daughter, Elizabeth, was diagnosed with T1D on March 8, 2023 at age five. She has inspired me to run in her honor because she is brave, strong, and resilient. Breakthrough T1D has been there to support our family and provide us with strength on some of the most difficult days of our lives. We are so grateful for the Breakthrough T1D community and all that they have done for us. Each event that we attend reminds us that we are not alone in this fight and that a cure is coming.
  • What got you into running: Training for the Boston Marathon in 2024. My finish line is a world without T1D and I’ll keep running until there is a cure.
  • How many times have you completed the ASICS Falmouth Road Race: This will be my second FRR.
  • What are you most looking forward to at the 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race: Hearing my T1D Warrior, Elizabeth cheer me on and a hot dog at the finish line!
