Honoring Este Haim: Recognizing a T1D Advocate and Musical Powerhouse at the 51st Promise Gala
We are thrilled to recognize Este Haim, GRAMMY®-nominated musician, composer, actor, and writer, with the Breakthrough T1D Voice of Influence Award at the Greater New York Metro 51st Promise Gala on November 14 at Cipriani South Street.
Este was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at age 14. As one-third of the Grammy-nominated rock trio HAIM, Este has to prioritize her health while maintaining a very active schedule. “Type 1 diabetes takes a lot of planning,” offered Este. “It’s no joke; you’ve got to take it seriously.” Este does this while traveling the globe on tour and playing to thousands of fans each night. Este and HAIM have played hundreds of shows, including performances at iconic music festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza.
Este has supported and served as an advocate for the T1D community at events such as the Breakthrough T1D Walk and Children’s Congress, and is a fantastic example of not letting T1D stop you from pursuing your dreams.
We are excited to recognize Este’s contributions to the T1D community by presenting her with this award that recognizes public figures who use their voice to raise awareness and drive support for the T1D community.
Join us on Thursday, November 14, World Diabetes Day, at Cipriani South Street for the 51st Promise Gala. Tickets, tables, and sponsorships are still available here, and if you would like to support Breakthrough T1D research directly, you can make a Fund A Cure gift here.
