About Real Estate Games
The New York City Real Estate Games brings together the fun of friendly competition, raising money for a cause, in one of New York’s best athletic spaces. Teams will compete in dodgeball, tower power (large-scale Jenga), rock climbing, basketball, and more during this day of fun, followed by an after-party with food, beverages, music, and more!

Fundraise
Your company will be set up with a personal fundraising page and you will be challenged to raise the most funds for T1D research. The winning team will be awarded prizes at the event. The goal for the 2024 Team Fundraising Challenge is to empower each of our participating teams to engage their company by raising $5,000+ to fund research toward a world without T1D! ALL companies and individuals can fundraise in support of the Real Estate Games, even if they are not planning to compete in the day’s activities.
Donate to Fund a Cure
Fund A Cure is an opportunity to impact the lives of people with T1D through a 100% tax-deductible donation. Fund a Cure donations will be invested in Breakthrough T1D’s effective and focused research aimed at progressively improving people’s lives until there is a cure.

History
Founded 32 years ago in Washington DC by Adam Singer (Savills Studley) and Rick Kimball (Avison Young) the Breakthrough T1D Real Estate Games is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the commercial real estate industry that raises funds to support type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
Nine years ago, in 2016, the Real Estate Games made its debut in NYC. Jim Whelan, the NYC Real Estate Games founder, along with the Event Committee have grown this event exponentially over the last eight years, having raised over $1 million in support of Breakthrough T1D’s mission.
The Real Estate Games brings together New York City’s top brokers, developers, law firms, engineering firms, architects, property managers, and more to compete in a series of sporting events at Chelsea Piers. This year, we hope to open the competition up to a larger portion of the industry to make an even greater impact in the lives of those living with T1D.

Team Games
All registered teams will receive an attendee packet a few weeks prior to the Games which will include a detailed schedule of the day, Team competition assignments, and an outline of the scoring and rules.
Detailed below are some of the games that teams have competed in during past years. Games are subject to some changes for the 2024 competition.
Dodgeball
It’s the game we used to play in gym class – dip, duck, catch, and DODGE! Teams face off one against the other and the team with the last person left in the game at the end wins.
Tower Power
Tower Power is similar to the popular game Jenga™, but super-sized! The group is organized into teams and each member of each team takes a turn removing one block from the tower and placing it on the top of the tower. Everyone participates and there are specific rules and challenges introduced along the way. The game ends when the tower falls.
Rock Climbing Relay
Each member of the team who is willing to climb will scale the Rock Wall in this vertical relay race. The team with the lowest combined time wins the challenge.
Speed Stacks
“Up stack” and “down stack” 12 specially-designed cups in predetermined sequences as fast as you can. Each team member gets 3 attempts. We will record their best score and add up the total team times.
“Hot Shot” Competition
Each team member will have three attempts to make a basket from three specific spots on the court, for a total of 9 shots. One point will be awarded for each of the easiest shots made, 3 points for each of the intermediate shots made, and 5 points for each of the most difficult shots made.
