Breakthrough T1D Illinois Youth Ambassadors are children and teens living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), between the ages of 8 and 18, who are involved with the educational, fundraising, and community volunteer efforts of Breakthrough T1D.
The core values of the Youth Ambassador Program include:

- Speaking & Storytelling
- Volunteering
Youth Ambassador Program Requirements:
- Must be between 8-18 years of age
- Must have T1D and a positive outlook on life with diabetes
- Willingness to share your personal story in front of small and large groups
- Register as the team captain for the Breakthrough T1D Walk
- Create an annual peer to peer fundraiser
- $3,000 annual fundraising requirement
- Attend local Youth Ambassador Orientation
- Commit to participate for a two-year term
