The Cohen/Leeds family has supported Breakthrough  T1D (Formerly JDRF) for over 20 years, starting when our son, Logan, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in November 2002. We have participated in numerous Walks, and I have served as chairperson of the Long Island Chapter’s One Night Gala, have co-chaired the Long Island Chapter’s Tee Up to Cure Diabetes Golf Outing, and am currently a member of the board of the Long Island and Greater Westchester & Fairfield Chapter of Breakthrough T1D.

Darren and I are excited to invite you to join us at this year’s Tee Up to Cure Diabetes Golf Classic, which is being held on Monday, June 1 at the Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, NY. With your generous support, the Breakthrough T1D raised over $200,000 at this event last year to fund the critical work of Breakthrough T1D and help it to further their mission of improving lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.

For 2026, Darren and I will cover the full cost of your attendance at the event, whether you join Darren for a great day of golf (a $1,000 value) or you join Darren and me for the evening program (a $300 value) so that any donations that you make can go directly to Breakthrough T1D and be 100% tax deductible.

  • If you would like to join Darren for a great day of golf at an amazing golf course, you would receive a round of 18 holes of golf, use of the driving range and putting green, lunch, a player’s gift and inclusion in the evening’s dinner festivities.
  • If you would prefer to skip the golf and join Darren and me for the evening program (5-8PM), there would be food and drink at a lovely cocktail hour at 5PM and a buffet dinner at 6-8PM, as well as a silent auction with great experiences to bid on and the ability to participate in Fund A Cure where you can make tax deductible donations to Breakthrough T1D.
