The Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter of Breakthrough T1D wants to recognize all of our volunteers for the years of support. Though next week, April 12–18, may be designated National Volunteer Week, at Breakthrough T1D, we celebrate our volunteers every day. No other organization can boast of the strong volunteer/staff partnership we share.
Our dedicated and passionate volunteers help us make a difference every day. If we have had the pleasure of your volunteer help in the past, THANK YOU! Volunteers are what make our events happen and we wouldn’t be successful without you. Whether you can spare only a little bit of time or make a more significant time commitment, we hope you have felt as rewarded as our staff did and does at the end of each day working with our amazing group of volunteers.
The staff here at the Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter thanks you!
To our legions of dedicated Breakthrough T1D Volunteers: I have always said, “Volunteers make the world go round!” I mean it. Having worked with countless volunteers in my 25 years in the nonprofit sector, I truly believe the single most rewarding aspect of this profession is the amazing volunteers I have met and partnered with along the way. At Breakthrough T1D, our volunteers’ passion for our mission is unmatched. I learn from you and am inspired by you every single day. Mostly, I am forever grateful for your time, energy, commitment, and unrelenting drive to help turn Type One into Type None. Thank you for ALL you do!!
-Kate Durak, Executive Director
I have always enjoyed giving back to the community and also try to incorporate volunteering into my daily life. So, when I knew I would be working with volunteers at Breakthrough T1D, I was super excited and also surprised. Not only were the volunteers awesome, but they exceeded my expectations! I met some of the most kind, selfless, exceptional people. Breakthrough T1D volunteers aren’t your typical volunteers…they are warriors. They accept all challenges as well as the good, bad and ugly that comes along with it. They don’t just look at the task, but look at the outcome. I proudly say that I have the largest extended family that I know of, and it keeps getting bigger! So I say to you my awesome volunteers, thank you for all that you do for Breakthrough T1D!
– Krystal Dunlap, Sr. Development Coordinator
In the 1 year that I’ve been with Breakthrough T1D I’ve been truly amazed by the determination of our volunteers. We work with the most determined group of volunteers around. Sometimes the tasks at hand are not exciting but they are willing to help out, realizing it is part of a much bigger picture. It’s never too early in the morning to turn around and see one of our mighty volunteers stuffing envelopes, making calls, greeting guests and the list goes on and on. Just like diabetes, our volunteers are relentless in helping us reach our goal.
To all our Volunteers – Thank you for everything you do!
– Stephanie Farmer, Development Manager
