The Breakthrough T1D Mid-Atlantic Chapter is so excited to announce that applications are currently open for our Youth Ambassador Program!
This program is made up of children with type 1 diabetes (T1D), grades K-12, who are interested in becoming involved with the educational and volunteer efforts of the Breakthrough T1D Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
Our goal is to empower our YAs by providing them with opportunities to advance our shared mission – a world without T1D. Opportunities range from participating in Breakthrough T1D virtual events, representing Breakthrough T1D in the community, and YA activities where you will be surrounded by individuals with similar philanthropic principles and the desire to one day cure T1D and its complications. Youth Ambassadors use and develop their skills in public speaking, advocacy, storytelling, and more.
A few ways that our Youth Ambassadors engage in community service include speaking to their classes about T1D awareness, giving facts over the morning announcements, hosting unique local fundraisers that tie into their hobbies, and volunteering at our Galas, Community Summits, and Walks. Like in years past, a few 2024-2025 Youth Ambassadors were chosen for 2025 Children’s Congress, a competitive program that happens every other year where kids across the country are selected to represent their state and advocate in Congress for support for research into T1D cures and treatments. There’s so much you can do as a Youth Ambassador to help drive toward a world without T1D, as you can see our 2024-2025 YAs exemplify in the photos below!
We hope you will choose to participate in the Breakthrough T1D YA Program this year. We need your voice, your participation, and your leadership.
The deadline to apply for the YA Program is September 2nd, 2025. To read more about qualifications, program requirements and expectations, and to apply, click here to access the application.
