Landon Kron T1D Story

Hi! My name is Landon. I am 10 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes
when I was 2 years old.

Life with Type One Diabetes requires a lot of work –
Poking my finger and getting shots are not my favorite…
A little bit after my diagnosis I started on a Continuous
Glucose Monitor – this helps me a LOT! (and my parents!)

When I turned 4 I went on to an Insulin Pump. It is attached to my body 24/7, giving me insulin.

In kindergarten I was one of 80 preschool kids who participated in a clinical trial for Omnipod Horizon insulin pump, which is now on the market today as ‘Omnipod 5’ – which connects the pump algorithm to the cgm… that means I helped millions living with diabetes, live life more normally!

I have a huge team of supporters, and we have participated in many walks… rain or shine!

I was even featured at the National ‘One Walk’ kickoff event!

I am very active and sometimes my blood glucose levels can be tricky to control – when that happens, I have to sit out and eat something with sugar to have my levels come back up – which can sometimes take a while,
which can be frustrating…

Managing T1D during sports and at school isn’t always easy – but my coaches, teachers, nurse, friends and family help me a lot!

I have recently finished another clinical trial which was super exciting, and I cannot wait for that to get to the market – that’s about all that I can say 😊

Being a delegate this year for Congress through BreakthroughT1d was such an amazing experience, I loved helping make congress aware of the daily burden of Type 1 Diabetes, and how government funding will positively impact this entire community.

My family is proud to be engaged with BreakThroughT1D as we work towards cures! And remember…. Make sure to get screened for early detection, just like my sister does! 😊
