We are honored to serve as the Chairs for the 27th Annual Breakthrough T1D Hope Gala on Saturday, February 20, 2027, at 6:00 p.m. at The Westin Jackson. Last year, we had the privilege of serving as the Gala’s Fund A Cure Family, and this year we are proud to return as Chairs. For more than fifty years, Breakthrough T1D has invested in the most promising research, accelerating life-changing therapies and driving progress toward cures. With over $2.5 billion funded in research to date, the impact has been profound, and the momentum continues to build. The Hope Gala is a celebration of progress, resilience, and the community that makes this work possible.
Type 1 diabetes runs deep in our family. Our father, Kevin Jackson, was diagnosed at 13, and both Ashley (at 13) and Anna Kate (at 20) received the same diagnosis. The truth is this: research gave us hope. Continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps that adjust automatically helped make it possible for the two of us to have five healthy children, and we want every family to have that same hope.
This community has helped fuel real progress. In a Breakthrough T1D-funded study, 12 people who received transplanted insulin-producing cells are no longer taking insulin, with no signs of rejection. A funded automated insulin system that needs no meal inputs also matched standard care by day and did better overnight in a 34-person trial.
