Kansas City
Ada, 5 – Topeka
“[A world without type 1 for me would mean] no more pods!”
Jaxton, 10 – Lee’s Summit
“Raising money to find a cure keeps me going. I won’t sugar coat how hard type one is, but having a cure to look forward to keeps me trying for a change. Finding a cure would change everything.”
Jonah, 12 – Overland Park
“It would change my life. It’s been a really hard year for me and I struggle with the mental load this disease brings. I get frustrated when technology isn’t working and it derails my day. I just want to be a normal kid, so yeah. A cure would mean everything to me.”
Tinley, 12 – Louisburg
“A cure for T1D would mean everything.”
Xander, 9 – Overland Park
“A world without type 1 would change everything.”
St. Louis
Aly, 8 – Lake St. Louis
“[What people don’t know about type 1 is] that’s it’s really hard some days to keep my blood sugar normal and I don’t feel good those days. I would be so happy to be like other kids.”
Ben, 7 – Maryland Heights
“I think it’d be awesome if things get even easier to manage. I also think it would be AMAZING if there was a cure. Helping raise money for research by walking made me very proud and this would too.”
Jacob, 12 – St. Peters
“A cure would mean that I wouldn’t have to constantly worry about my blood sugars. It would mean not constantly making sure my pump and Dexcom are working, and not stressing over when they need to be changed.”
Kate, 13 – Chesterfield
“I wish others knew I can eat anything! I just have to dose. It is really annoying when people ask me what I can and can’t eat! A cure would make my life easier and it would make me very happy!”
Sabrina, 15 – Richmond Heights
“It would mean fewer explanations and disclaimers, along with less guilt about my special needs and less anxiety over bothering others with my medical condition. It would save both those around me and myself a lot of trouble.”
