Half Moon Bay Coastline Hike for T1D Adults

About

Our Breakthrough T1D Hike Don’t Spike event for adults on Saturday, October 10 is a relatively flat coastline out-and-back that features the Pacific Ocean to one side and fields of produce and wildflowers on the other. Finches, rabbits, lizards, bees, and harbor seals also enjoy this sunny, wind-swept location through which we’ll be hiking on a wide gravel path.

Halfway through this moderate 7.2-mile (500-foot ascent) hike along the Cowell-Purisima Trail (AllTrails map, Park map) we’ll take our break at Cowell Ranch Beach. After enjoying the sand and surf, we’ll return to our starting point. Of course, we’ll have plenty of time during this ~4-hour hike to exchange experiences, opinions, and questions about life with T1D.

We’ll meet promptly at 9:30 AM at the parking lot at the south end of Cowell-Purisima Trail at 18501 Cabrillo Hwy S. (Google Map link). Parking is free but limited, with additional parking (and pumpkins!) available across the street at Bob’s Vegetable Stand. Bathrooms are at the trailhead.  Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed.

Please save the date for our next hikes:

Nov 1 – San Leandro Reservoir, Moraga (and 25th hike celebration)
Dec 6 – El Corte de Madera Creek Preserve, Redwood City
Jan 10 – Annual Muir Woods Ladybug Loop, Mill Valley
