For Nora, being part of the Breakthrough T1D community means knowing she’s never alone. Living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) herself, Nora serves as a Youth Ambassador and is passionate about supporting others who face the same daily challenges.

“I like being around people who face the same challenges as me” Nora shares. “I also love how I can help other people manage T1D.” That sense of connection and encouragement is what keeps her involved, whether she’s participating in Walk events or fundraising to help advance research and improve the future for everyone living with T1D.

Nora understands that life with T1D isn’t always as simple as managing your blood sugar. She hopes more people recognize that even with careful management, highs and lows still happen. She also wants to raise awareness about common misconceptions about T1D. Through sharing her experiences, Nora helps educate others about the realities of living with T1D. Nora hopes to see a future where living with T1D is easier through continued advancements in technology and ultimately, a cure. Her motivation is simple: she wants to help other people living with T1D thrive.
As an active member of the T1D community, Nora has participated in Walks, Community Summits, and support groups. The encouragement she receives from friends, family, and fellow community members has had a meaningful impact on her journey. “When everybody is cheering for you and rooting you on, it makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Outside of her advocacy work, Nora enjoys lacrosse, tennis, basketball, dance, swimming, skiing, pickleball, and reading. Recently, she was honored with the Cody Reinhart Award in lacrosse, which recognizes her dedication, resilience, and teamwork. Although managing T1D while playing sports can sometimes be challenging, Nora says those experiences have helped her become stronger, more resilient, and a leader both on and off the field.
“You can still do everything you want to,” Nora says. “You just have to be responsible for your numbers and your health. If you work hard, are resilient, and are kind, you can be great at anything. You might have to plan ahead a little bit more, but you can still do anything you put your mind to.”
Thank you, Nora, for being an incredible Youth Ambassador, volunteer, and role model. Your positivity, determination, and commitment to helping others remind us of what makes the Breakthrough T1D community so special.
