2027 Youth Ambassador Applications

We are so excited to announce that applications are now open for our 2027 Youth Ambassador Program!
Youth Ambassadors are kids and teens living with T1D who commit to a year of volunteer service with Breakthrough T1D. Throughout the year, Youth Ambassadors have opportunities to get involved in their community, build confidence speaking about T1D, develop leadership and storytelling skills, connect with other young people living with T1D, and work alongside Breakthrough T1D staff and T1D leaders to advance our mission of creating a world without T1D.
Youth Ambassador Requirements:
- The Youth Ambassador must be between 5-18 years old (K-12th grade).
- The Youth Ambassador must have a positive outlook on life and diabetes!
- The Youth Ambassador must receive parental permission to participate. In addition, a parent or guardian will help with the program and provide transportation to Breakthrough T1D events.
- The Youth Ambassador must commit to participating for the calendar year (January 2027 – December 2027).
- Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours to support Breakthrough T1D programs, activities, and/or events.
- Attend and/or participate in a minimum of 3 Breakthrough T1D events or Youth Ambassador events.
- Complete at least 1 speaking engagement where you share your T1D story in front of an audience (could be your class, a company, a service club, etc.)
- Complete 1 fundraiser (ie. Walk Team, Ride, DIY fundraiser, etc.)
- Attend the virtual Youth Ambassador Orientation in January, as scheduled by the chapter.
- New Youth Ambassadors must also attend the virtual “Sharing My Story” training early in the year (or view the recording) and submit the homework video.
