For nearly two decades, the Rudd family has been deeply committed to Breakthrough T1D’s mission to turn Type 1 into Type None. Emmabella was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 5, and with the encouragement of her family and the diabetes community, has turned this chronic challenge into her passion. Their team, Emmabella’s Believers, has been a driving force in the community for 19 years, raising over $600,000 through Walks, the Ride, and Galas in support of Breakthrough T1D.
Tricia has proudly served on the Board for 15 years as Advocacy Team Chair, helping amplify the voices of those living with T1D on Capitol Hill, securing support from legislators in funding and allocating diabetes research dollars to the NIH. Emmabella, the inspiration behind their efforts, was selected as a Children’s Congress Delegate in 2013 and has continued her advocacy work ever since. A recent Georgetown University graduate with a master’s degree in health policy and advocacy, she is determined to transform and improve our country’s health care system.
