Please join us on Wednesday, October 7 at 5:15 pm for our monthly Cups of Hope Meeting at the LAKEWOOD RANCH LIBRARY. Please note the time: 5:15 pm
Dogs Inc. will be our speaker and will bring a Diabetic Scent Dog to the meeting!
Dogs Inc has been creating extraordinary partnerships between people and dogs for more than 40 years. Based in Palmetto, Florida, the organization raises, trains, and places highly skilled working dogs with people who can benefit from their support. Dogs and services are provided to recipients at no cost, along with lifelong support and benefits including dog food, routine veterinary care such as vaccines and preventatives, and ongoing assistance from the Dogs Inc team.
Dogs Inc launched its Scent Detection Program for people living with Type 1 diabetes in September 2025. Through specialized scent training, dogs learn to recognize scent changes associated with shifts in blood glucose and alert their handler. The program is still very new and continuing to grow, with its first teams being placed throughout the local community.
We’re excited to have you join us at Cups of Hope to share more about how the dogs are trained, demonstrate scent detection work, and answer questions about this newest Dogs Inc program!
We are temporarily meeting at the Lakewood Ranch Library while the Fruitville Library is under construction.

-Go to the main entrance and enter through the sliding doors
-Continue straight through second set of sliding doors into the main library room
-Take a left before the librarian’s station and then another left into Meeting Room B
Cups of Hope is a gathering of people whose lives are affected by Type 1 Diabetes, including adults with T1D, spouses, parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc. Everyone is welcome! We gather together and share experiences and information to help us make life better for our Number 1 Type 1.
If you have any used Dexcom 6, please feel free to bring them. One person collects and recycles them.
