As Breakthrough T1D’s most generous supporters, you are helping us to advance research to cure, better treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). We want to share important information about recent scientific findings that your contribution has helped to make possible.
This season’s Top Research Highlights shares with you news about how Breakthrough T1D is taking a number of approaches to advance science to cure, better treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). Read about how Breakthrough T1D has teamed up with iCo Therapeutics to investigate a potential new treatment for diabetic macular edema, one of the leading causes of blindness in working-age adults. We also report on an international study that aims to improve future kidney and heart health in adolescents with T1D.
In the treat and cure areas, you can learn about Breakthrough T1D’s partnership with Dexcom to manufacture a “smart” technology—one that would reduce the number of devices a person would have to wear with an artificial pancreas system. And do not miss our article about exciting research that provides new insights into how T1D progresses at the early stages of the disease.
For our youth ambassadors and younger audiences, please see this season’s Cool Research News. This issue contains information about Breakthrough T1D’s partnership with Dexcom and recaps the new research insights on T1D progression.
Be sure to pass these on to neighbors, co-workers, friends and family who would like to learn more about Breakthrough T1D and our current research programs.
