The College Diabetes Network (CDN) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide innovative peer based programs and access to resources which connect and empower students and young professionals to thrive with diabetes.
“I didn’t meet any other Type 1 Diabetics my freshman year at CU Boulder. My friends here tried to understand what I was going through, but it was impossible for them to truly understand everything about Diabetes. Which is why I started Type 1 Buffaloes, a group specifically for Type 1 Diabetics or those curious about Diabetes. With this group, I am able to get support from other Diabetics and learn from their experiences.”
-Rachel Some, Chapter Founder

3 PILLARS OF PROGRAMMING
TOOLS
CDN is “The Hub” for information and resources directly relevant to the lives of young adults with diabetes. CDN’s website provides the tools for living a healthy life right at your fingertips and written in a way that is relevant to a young adult’s life. Our website is FULL of resources for you to use. You’ll find resources on relevant topics at the bottom of each page, marked by a round icon.
NETWORK
CDN creates a community of young adults with diabetes; a community run by students for students. CDN supports them in creating peer networks on campus, facilitates connections between students and local resources, and provides tools to reduce the barriers of running these on-campus “chapters.” In addition, CDN enables communication between student leaders across the country, to aid them in sharing ideas about chapter leadership.

ECOSYSTEM
As the hub of support to young adults with diabetes, we recognize that we also have an obligation to use our unique understanding of this niche to address the systemic issues affecting this population. While the functionality of this site was created with students as the first and foremost in our minds, we also wanted it to be a dynamic resource for parents and other family members, clinicians, campus administrators and staff, friends, and roommates. If you fall into one of these categories, you’ll find your section of the site under the “Not a T1D?” heading on the navigation bar.
