As you know finding a cure for type 1 diabetes(T1D) and being a volunteer and fundraiser for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) has been an important part of my life since my parents and another family from Philadelphia started what was then known as JDF over 50 years ago. Together, my parents and I promised my brother who was diagnosed with T1D before he was 10, that someday a cure for T1D would be developed and that we would not stop seeking that cure until it was found. Well today we see multiple possible cures on the horizon, but I need your help to help us bring them to a reality.
This year the New York City Chapter of Breakthrough T1D is having its 53rd Annual Promise Ball Gala on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at the Plaza Hotel. I hope you will consider joining me and my family as we celebrate all that has been accomplished in fighting T1D and improving the lives of people suffering from T1D. If you are unable to attend, I hope you will consider making a Fund A Cure donation, 100% of the proceeds of which go to research funded by Breakthrough T1D.
We have come a long way in fighting T1D and its complications since my parents and I made that promise to my brother so many years ago. There are cures out there and we are getting closer every day; but we are not there yet, and we need your help in making that promise a reality for everyone afflicted with T1D throughout the world.
