Breakthrough T1D volunteers truly are amazing. They dedicate countless hours outside of work towards helping Breakthrough T1D turn type one into type none! Last month we highlighted a few volunteers and the incredible work they are doing to create a world without T1D.

Bobby Erickson

Bobby Erickson has been involved with the South Sound Breakthrough T1D One Walk for 13 years, since his son, Jake, was diagnosed in December of 2005. Bobby has been the team captain of “Jake’s Crew”, leading the team to raise over $149,000 for type one diabetes research. Each year, Bobby goes above and beyond to fundraise, educate and advocate for all of those affected by T1D. He plans fundraising events, raises awareness and is active with their social media page, Jake’s Crew – Walking to Cure Diabetes. We are so honored and proud of everything he does for the T1D community. Thank you to Bobby for everything you do for Breakthrough T1D!

Hughes McLaughlin

Hughes McLaughlin was the Chair of the 10th Annual Tee to Table Golf Tournament. As an adult withT1D, he went above and beyond to recruit many new people into the event and educate people on what it’s like to live with this disease.  Hughes is always up for a great day on the course and was an amazing leader for this incredibly successful event!  Thank you for dedication to Breakthrough T1D!

Alexa and Liz Nowoj

Alexa and Liz Nowoj have been two instrumental volunteers in the Breakthrough T1D office this year! Their passion and dedication to Breakthrough T1D and the T1D community have had them completing hundreds of hours on projects from the Bag of Hope program, Gala projects, phone calls, and other office tasks. Thank you, Liz and Alexa for your hard work and support!

Tanya Lingle

Tanya Lingle serves as the President for the Breakthrough T1D Northwest Chapter Young Leadership Committee (YLC). During her time as President Tanya has been an invaluable member of the Outreach Committee, increasing awareness about T1D to the greater community, hosting fundraisers, and getting the young professionals of Seattle together to help turn type one into type none! Thank you, Tanya for your leadership and dedication to Breakthrough T1D and the T1D community!

Amy Campbell

Amy and her family have been involved with Breakthrough T1D Northwest Chapter for many years, working tirelessly to help Breakthrough T1D find a cure for type one.  The cause is close to her heart, as her son Matty was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 10. Amy is now the chair of the Family Team Committee, leading a team of volunteers to coach the Bridge the Bridge family teams to success! She’s a member of Beat the Bridge team the MighT1’s, which has quickly grown to a multi-T1D family team, raising over $90,000! In addition to her tremendous support of Beat the Bridge, Amy & her family actively participate in many other Breakthrough T1D programs, such as Gingerbread Village, the Dream Gala, the Youth Ambassador program, and the Tee to Table Golf Tournament. We can’t say thank you enough to Amy for the incredible impact she is making!

Gayle Williams

Gayle Williams is our Ride to Cure Diabetes Champion and lead volunteer. Gayle has participated in more than ten (10) rides and is currently signed up for the 2018 Ride to Cure Diabetes in Saratoga Springs, NY. She has an infectious spirit that gets everyone around her excited and rallied to hit the course. Gayle loves the Breakthrough T1D Ride program, evident in her winning the Spirit Jersey, which is a polka jersey that is given out to the person who exemplifies the spirit of the Breakthrough T1D Ride Program throughout ride weekend. Not only has she won the Spirit Jersey, she also was awarded the Promise Jersey, which is given to a rider that puts others before themselves and recognizes a rider that does not have T1D, but has made a promise to Ride for a Cure. We are proud to work alongside Gayle and cannot say enough how much we appreciate her and all she does for Breakthrough T1D!

Vicki Meyer

Vicki Meyer led the procurement efforts of the 29th annual Dream Gala. During the weeks leading up to the event, she volunteered wherever necessary and helped Gala night be a success! Vicki provides a bright smile and upbeat attitude to the Breakthrough T1D community. Thank you, Vicki, for your hard work and support!
