Living with type 1 diabetes is a burden at times, but having a great support system can help. Alisa Boldizar, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes this past year, understands the positive effects that a caring friend can have. 10 year old Cameron Robinson has been Alisa’s friend since infancy and does anything she can to support her dear friend.
At the time of Alisa’s diagnosis, Cameron was incredibly concerned about Alisa’s health. Even at such a young age, Cameron felt the need to support Alisa and help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. When the Boldizar family decided to participate in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, Cameron advocated for Alisa and became dedicated to raising as much money as she could for Alisa’s Walk team. She recruited the help of her family, friends, and Girl Scout Troop to show support for Alisa during her first Walk to Cure Diabetes. With a caring heart, Cameron raised $55.00 for Alisa’s Walk team this year.
Equally as important as raising money for Alisa’s Walk team, Cameron has touched the hearts of many by caring so much for her friend. Since the Walk, Cameron has continued showing concern and support for Alisa. In the spirit of Halloween, she carved a pumpkin with the Breakthrough T1D sneaker. Cameron is such a special part of Alisa’s life, and Alisa and her family are so happy to call Cameron a friend.
