About The Newman Family

Dear Family and Friends

December 5th, marked 25 years since our daughter Nikki was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She was just 3 years old. Twenty-five years — a full quarter of a century — of courage, discipline, resilience, and countless moments that most people never have to think twice about. For Nikki, and for so many others living with T1D, every single day requires strength and constant awareness. And yet she continues to move through life with grace, determination, and a smile that reminds us what true bravery looks like.

Geoff and I are grateful for the incredible advancements made over these past years — technology that has made life safer, tools that have made moments easier. But even with all this progress, there is still no cure. For everyone who depends on insulin to get through a day… a week… a month… a year… and yes, even a quarter of a century, the need for continued research is as urgent as ever.

On January 31, I have the honor of serving as co-chair of the Breakthrough T1D Gala at the Opal Grand in Delray Beach. This event is deeply meaningful to us, not only because of Nikki’s journey, but because it brings together people who believe in a future without Type 1 diabetes.

Many of you may be unable to attend in person, but your support still means the world to us. Every donation given below will directly fund research through Breakthrough T1D. You don’t have to wait for Gala night to give — please use the link below.

If you will be in the South Florida area and would like to attend the gala, please let me know. My family and I would love nothing more than to have you spend the night with us. It would mean the world to share this evening — and this mission — together.

Geoff and I thank you for your love, your friendship, and your continued support. It has carried us through the last 25 years, and it gives us hope for the next.

With love, appreciation and gratitude,

Lisa
