Growing Leaders in the T1D Community

If you are looking for a way to help your child grow as a leader, build confidence, and connect with other kids who live with type 1 diabetes, the Breakthrough T1D Michigan Youth Ambassador Program is a meaningful place to start. This program gives young people the chance to use their voices, share their stories, and inspire others while supporting Breakthrough T1D’s mission to create a world without type 1 diabetes.

The Youth Ambassador Program is open to children and teens between the ages of 5 and 18. Ambassadors share their real experiences with T1D to raise awareness, educate the public, and help others better understand what it means to live with this condition. Along the way, they gain important skills, new friendships, and a sense of pride in knowing that their stories create change.

What the Program Is All About

The heart of the Youth Ambassador Program is connection. Ambassadors come together throughout the year to learn, speak, volunteer, and represent the Michigan chapter. They take part in activities that help them:

  • Share their T1D journeys with confidence
  • Build leadership and advocacy skills
  • Improve communication and public speaking
  • Meet peers who truly understand life with T1D
  • Support Breakthrough T1D events and outreach

The Michigan Chapter also plans fun social gatherings for Ambassadors. These events help build friendships and create unforgettable memories. Past meet ups have included Detroit Tigers games, go karting, and other activities designed to bring the group together in a relaxed and supportive environment.
