About the Gentine Family
Dear Friends and Family,
It’s that time of year when Paula and I ask for your support of a cause that has been incredibly important to our family for more than a decade.
As many of you know, our son Jack was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in December 2015—a day that changed our family forever. Since then, we’ve committed ourselves to supporting Breakthrough T1D and its work to improve life for people like Jack while driving toward cures.
This year, that commitment takes on special meaning. Paula and I are incredibly honored to have been asked to serve as the Honorees for the 2027 Breakthrough T1D Gala on Saturday, March 6, 2027 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee.
Over the last 11 years, we’ve seen firsthand what investing in this mission can accomplish. Advances in insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and other technologies have made it easier for Jack to manage his diabetes and live his life without letting T1D define what he can do.
But we’re not done yet.
We know cures are coming. For our family, that means looking toward the day when Jack can take off his insulin pump for the last time. Our job now is to help get there faster.
That is why, this year especially, we hope you’ll join us in the ballroom.
Some of you have known our family for years. Others I’ve had the chance to work with along the way. Either way, there’s a place at this table for you. If this is personal to you, join us: host a table for friends and family, grab tickets, or make a Fund A Cure gift in support of Jack and our family. If you’re reading this as a colleague or business connection, this is a great year to put your company’s name behind the cause as a Gala sponsor — a visible way to rally your team around something that matters, with sponsorship details just a scan away. And either way, check whether your employer matches gifts — it’s an easy way to double what you give.
Many of you have answered this call year after year, and what we have accomplished together is remarkable. Through your generosity and our family’s matching support, we have now raised more than $1.8 million for Breakthrough T1D.
This year, our collective goal is to raise $300,000.
Whether you’re with us in the ballroom or supporting us from afar — personally or through your company — we hope you’ll be part of making that possible.
We recognize there are many worthwhile organizations deserving of your support, and we encourage you to give to the causes that mean the most to you. We hope Breakthrough T1D will continue to be one of them.
Please join us on March 6 for the Breakthrough T1D Gala. Sponsor the event, personally or through your company. Host a table for your family, friends or colleagues. Purchase tickets. And if you can’t be there in person, make a Fund A Cure gift in support of our family. Together, let’s help get to the day when Jack—and everyone living with T1D—can live free from this disease.
