About
For the 1.45 million Americans living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) it means facing a relentless, daily struggle with an autoimmune condition that can be life-threatening. In T1D, the body’s immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Insulin is an essential hormone – and people living with T1D must take insulin by injection or insulin pump to survive. It is a day-to-day, minute-to-minute balancing act that has serious short and long-term complications. Too much insulin is deadly. Too little insulin brings the risk of long-term complications.
Today, 64,000 people are diagnosed with T1D in the U.S. each year – and by 2040, 2.1 million people are projected to develop the disease. Currently, there is no cure. But we are looking to change that.
We are thrilled to introduce the Inaugural Breakthrough T1D San Diego (Previously JDRF) Golf Tournament on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!
Please join us for a premier day of golf at one of San Diego’s finest courses. It will be an unforgettable day on the course, filled with fun, food, drinks, and more! The tournament will be followed by a lively cocktail reception featuring delicious food, networking opportunities and community connection. Your support of Breakthrough T1D directly funds life-changing T1D research and together, we can drive meaningful progress toward cures for T1D.
Breakthrough T1D exists so Type 1 Diabetes won’t. The future is bright. The time is now.
We look forward to seeing you on the course!
