On April 19, 2020, our world changed with six words no one wants to hear: “Your daughter has type 1 diabetes.” Addison, just nine at the time, was in diabetic ketoacidosis and urgently transported to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. The days that followed were a whirlwind of worry, learning, and sleepless nights — trying to comfort Addison and find our footing in this new reality.
Fast forward five years, and Addison is now 14 — strong, determined, and full of dreams. Her courage amazes us every day, whether she’s competing on the volleyball court or excelling in her classes. Thanks to breakthrough technologies like her continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump — and, most of all, Addison’s spirit — she’s able to live a vibrant, active life. Still, managing type 1 diabetes is a relentless challenge, and we know firsthand how vital ongoing research and support truly are.
That’s why our family is honored to be the Fund A Cure Family for the 2026 NWA Breakthrough T1D “Party with a Purpose” Gala on April 25, 2026, at Heroncrest in Elm Springs. This event is deeply personal to us; it’s our way of giving back and moving closer to the day when type 1 diabetes is no longer something any family must face.
We would be deeply grateful for your support. Whether you sponsor a table, purchase a ticket, or make a donation in Addison’s honor, your generosity directly helps families like ours. Every step forward is a step closer to a cure, and it’s that hope that keeps us going until that day comes.
