For years, the Hubbard family has been a beacon of hope and dedication in the fight against type 1 diabetes. Their commitment began when their daughter, Ella, was diagnosed with this chronic autoimmune disease. In an instant, their world changed. Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong condition in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. There is no cure. For Ella, every meal requires careful carbohydrate calculation, every day demands constant blood sugar monitoring, multiple insulin injections, and insulin pump management, and every night brings the worry of severe illness induced by high or low blood sugars. Rather than retreat in the face of this diagnosis, the Hubbard family chose to fight. They have dedicated countless hours to raising awareness and generating critical funds for Breakthrough T1D, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. Their efforts have brought us closer to better treatments, improved technologies, and ultimately, a cure.

On April 25, 2026, we will honor the Hubbard family at our 26th Promise Gala for their extraordinary commitment to this mission. This elegant evening will celebrate their legacy while raising essential funds to continue the groundbreaking research that offers hope to Ella and families like theirs.
