We are only 2 weeks away from walk day! Please read through the following updates so you don’t miss any important information leading into walk day! This includes important fundraising deadlines, walk day awards (new!) , and information on walk day details and volunteering.
1. WE REALLY NEED VOLUNTEERS!
We are looking for event day volunteers for the walk. There are different time slots and jobs available. Please spread the word to anyone that might be interested! We are still looking for about 60 volunteers!
2. FUNDRAISING INCENTIVE DEADLINES APPROACHING
If you have money coming in that may not be reflected on your walk page and puts you into these categories, please let Lorynn know! We want to include you!
Mile of Hope
Item: Customized Yard Sign on Walk Day
Incentive Level: $2,000 Team Fundraising
Fundraising Deadline: Tuesday, Oct 22nd

Team Area
Item: Party area for your walk team. Includes 1 table, 2 chairs, balloons, customized team sign, additional snacks, etc.
Incentive Level: $5,000 Team Fundraising
Fundraising Deadline: Thursday, October 24th

3. (NEW!) WALK DAY AWARDS!
We are excited to announce that we will be giving away 4 awards during the opening ceremony on walk day! Fundraising/registration deadline is Thursday, Oct 31st at 12:00(noon). If you have mailed checks that may not hit your page in time, please let us know!!
- Rookie of the Year – Top ‘First Year’ Team (#1 right now is Si’s Guys at $2,907. Team LT is a close second at $2,716).
- Spirit Award – Largest Team/Most Registered (#1 right now is Team LT (30), followed by Helene Small & Mighty and Team Bryson (27).
- Top Family Team – #1 right now is Brody & Kendall’s Crew at $24,941 – this is not reflected on the website yet because checks are being processed.
- Top Corporate Team -#1 right now is Team Energy Swing at $13,151
4. WALK DAY DETAILS:
We will be sending more walk day details next week! In the meantime, please see these details below.
- Parking is free for walkers in the lot in front of the stadium. Please arrive by 8:15am and no later than 9:30am – streets will close by 9:30 and you’ll have to park in garages/lots further away!
- V1P walkers will be emailed a V1P Parking Pass for walk day. You’ll have a section blocked off for you at the closest part of the general parking lot.
- Pre-walk games and activities will be located inside the stadium (in the rotunda where the concession stands are) beginning at 8:30am. It is inside but please dress for the weather! The large gates will be open, and we’ll be subject to the elements
- Activities:
- Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Spray Tattoos
- Friendship Bracelet/Button making craft area
- 360-degree photobooth, Why I Walk Wall – and other fun photo opportunities!
- Magician & Mascots
- Vendor Fair
- Apples, bottled water, granola bars, fruit snacks, and Eat ‘n Park smiley cookies
- Inflatable Basketball/Football toss, cornhole, and more
- TrialNet – T1D screenings
- Firetruck
- DJ/Music
- 50/50 Raffle
- V1P Area and Family Team Village
- T1D Identifiers – All T1D’s pick up your bandana at the Breakthrough T1D Support & Resources tent!
- The stands will be open for general seating/pictures.
- We will NOT have access to the field.
5. The Opening Ceremonies and T1D Parade will take place on Art Rooney Drive just outside the stadium entrance at 10AM.
6. The walk will be approximately 1.5 miles through the North Shore, starting immediately after the T1D Parade (Approximately 10:15-10:30am). You are not required to do that actual walk if you’d like to stay at the stadium during that time.
