La cetoacidosis diabética (DKA) es una complicación de la diabetes tipo 1, y puede ocurrir en casos de insuficiente control de la diabetes tipo 1 o insuficiente administración de insulina, o también durante el curso de enfermedades que pueden desestabilizar el control de la diabetes. Los pacientes con DKA acuden a los hospitales muy enfermos debido a la hiperglicemia severa, y suelen presentar respiración rápida, acidosis, e incluso alteración del estado de conciencia. Diabetic ketoacidosis in a child with type 1 diabetes: Evaluation and treatment in the pediatric emergency Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a complication of type 1 diabetes (T1D), and this condition can occur when patients are not receiving adequate insulin treatment or during acute illnesses increasing the demand of insulin treatment due to stress-related hyperglycemia. Patients on DKA require immediate attention at the emergency department, and in the most severe cases of DKA, patients may also present with loss of consciousness.
