A Message from Erin

Our world changed forever on October 1, 2022 when our sweet little 8-year-old boy, Emmett, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). What started out as excessive thirst, frequent trips to the bathroom (and sudden bedwetting), and unexplained weight loss quickly became a life-changing reality for our family. This is an autoimmune disease with no cure.

Since then, managing T1D has become part of our everyday life – the planning, the monitoring, the learning curve, and the constant adjustments. Emmett has handled it all with incredible strength and maturity. He checks his blood sugar, changes his pump sites, and administers insulin. He approaches this challenge with grace and we are forever in awe of the responsibilities that were forced upon him at such a young age.

This fundraiser with Breakthrough T1D matters to us because research, education, advocacy, and community support change lives — including Emmett’s.
Every donation helps move us closer to enhanced treatments, improved technology, and ultimately a CURE for Type 1 Diabetes.
