Why I Walk: Dawn Lovett
We recently had the opportunity to learn why Dawn Lovett participates in Breakthrough T1D’s Pittsburgh Walk. Dawn opens up about her experience with Type 1 diabetes and why she is so committed to this cause. Her story is a powerful reminder of why we walk and a source of inspiration for others to join the fight against T1D. Learn more below.
Q: Tell us your story, why do you walk?
A: I walk for my daughter, Vivienne. She was diagnosed last September of 2023 at age 14. She is my role model. She has gone through so much, but has done so with so much strength, determination and courage. Her older sisters and nephew have been a rock for her throughout this journey. I am dedicated to bringing more awareness about Type 1 Diabetes and I’m dedicated to help her throughout this new life of hers. Vivi has come a long way and is now on an insulin pump and is doing so much better. So, I walk for Vivi and I walk for all of the brave warriors with Type 1. ❤️
Q: How has T1D impacted your life?
A: It has impacted her life greatly, yet throughout her diagnosis it has shown us how far we go to protect our children and loved ones. Everyday is a new battle and we take one day at a time, even one moment at a time. I strive for my daughter’s health and she is so courageous.
We would love for you to share your story here.
