Weather Update: Pittsburgh Walk
Pittsburgh weather is keeping us on our toes this weekend — the forecast is currently calling for a 95% chance of rain on Walk Day. But don’t worry, our event is still on and the fun will go on — rain or shine!
From 10:00 to 11:30 AM, all Walk Day activities will take place inside the Great Hall at Acrisure Stadium. This incredible indoor space will keep everyone dry while you enjoy team photos, sponsor booths, kids’ activities, and the excitement leading up to our Opening Ceremony.
We’ve planned a beautiful Opening Ceremony to take place outdoors on Art Rooney Drive. However, if we experience heavy rain, wind, or lightning, we’ll move the ceremony inside to the stage in the Great Hall. While it might be a bit cozy indoors and not everyone will have a perfect view, we’ll be using the stadium’s house speakers so everyone can hear and take part in this special moment.
We’re counting on our amazing Breakthrough T1D community to help us make this day memorable — no matter what the weather brings! Our Emcee will make an announcement about whether the ceremony will be held inside or outside, so please listen for updates. If you’re unsure, just ask a staff member or volunteer for guidance.
As for the Walk route, we’ll make a weather-based call that morning. If conditions allow, we’ll take on the full North Shore route. If not, we’ll have a shorter route available — or you can always stay inside the stadium and enjoy the festivities there.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you, come rain or shine. We’ll do everything we can to keep you dry — and guarantee an incredible day filled with community, hope, and breakthrough moments.
And hey, this is Pittsburgh — there’s still a chance the sun will surprise us after all!
