
Great Strides made in 2016
The Northeast Wisconsin Chapter’s fiscal year ended on June 30th with positive impact made in Outreach, Board and Committee Development, Fundraising and Research. Breakthrough T1D volunteers are the driving force behind our progress toward a cure, giving generously of their time, money and expertise in an ambitious agenda of fundraising, outreach and advocacy activities.
Here are a few highlights:
- Research: Breakthrough T1D has made exciting progress this year in our mission of accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. This update features several prominent advances in T1D research made possible by Breakthrough T1D’s supporters.
- Chapter Financial Success: This year the chapter saw great success in its core fundraising programs. The four Breakthrough T1D One Walks generated over $615,000, Breakthrough T1D Ride to Cure Diabetes events had over 30 participants and raised over $137,000, and the Breakthrough T1D Celebrity Gala had a record breaking year raising $375,000. In total the chapter raised an outstanding 1.3 million!!
- The chapter added 6 new board members to an already strong team of volunteers. We welcome Dawn Brown, Mark Knall, Karla Spika, Terry Wollin, Meredith Lauer, Scott Westphal to the Breakthrough T1D Board of Directors.
The Chapter’s success is driven by the commitment of our volunteers and donors. THANK YOU for all that you do for Breakthrough T1D. Together we will turn Type One into Type None.
